The story

La Esmeralda is the farm that changed specialty coffee. When the Peterson family entered a separate lot of an unusual variety into the 2004 Best of Panama competition, the floral, tea-like Gesha shattered price records and rewrote what a coffee could taste like. Grown on the slopes of the Barú volcano in Boquete, the estate's Gesha lots — sold through the Esmeralda Special auction — remain a global reference point for clarity and aromatics.
