Summer Moon Coffee got its start in Austin in 2002, born from a family's winning bid at a local auction for coffee equipment. That accidental beginning led to something intentional: a family-run coffee company with its own way of doing things, rooted in Austin from the start. The South First Street location followed a few years later, once the family had developed both its signature roasting method and the recipe for Moon Milk, the sweet cream that would define the brand.

The Burnet Road location sits in North Austin's Domain corridor, off Burnet Road and Kramer Lane within easy reach of Texas Highway Loop 1. The coffee is hand-roasted daily over an open flame in a one-of-a-kind brick roaster fueled by Texas oak wood — a process that gives the coffee a distinct character not easily replicated elsewhere. Beans are sourced from Indonesia, Central and South America, and Africa, with the brand reporting 90% fair trade and 100% organic sourcing. The result is served alongside Moon Milk, the signature sweet cream that has become central to how regulars experience the cup.
