Originating from Gesha village in western Ethiopia, this variety was brought to Panama in the 1960s. Hacienda La Esmeralda's 2004 auction revelation triggered worldwide attention. Gesha produces some of the most complex, aromatic coffees in the world — jasmine, bergamot, peach — but is notoriously low-yield and climate-sensitive.
